THE RETROFIT CENTRE Bill board.jpg

The Retrofit Centre, asked me to create a brand identity for a coalition of eight local authorities in Gloucestershire. Their mission is to promote sustainable living by improving home energy efficiency and encouraging retrofitting for a net-zero carbon future. The challenge was to design an identity that unified the coalition under a single, compelling visual brand while resonating with homeowners and stakeholders alike.

To achieve this, I developed a logo that visually communicates the initiative’s goals. The design features a simple yet meaningful house icon, reinforcing the domestic focus. A rising sun above the house, made up of six segments, symbolizes solar energy while also subtly resembling a windmill to represent wind power. The choice of bold magenta and dark teal colours ensures strong visibility, creating a balance between approachability and credibility.

The goal of this branding was to establish a recognisable and trustworthy identity that reflects the coalition’s commitment to sustainability. By integrating clear, symbolic imagery and a strong color palette, the brand effectively conveys the importance of energy efficiency and community involvement.
